By default, when a VPN is connected, the gateway of the remote network starts to be used as the Internet gateway. That is, when using the Internet on a computer, we get it from the network to which we are connected. If the speed of the Internet is lower there or there are any restrictions on its use in the network, then you can switch to using your gateway.
It makes sense to do this only if the purpose of the connection is to use the resources of another local network, and not anonymous surfing.
